Here in my inaugural blog post I’ll fill you in on what to expect from this blog, and how it got its name.
Okay, so kinda a different name. Faith and food, well that’s obvious! My faith and my relationship with our Savior is the most important thing in my life. I fail daily, and ask for forgiveness daily. I’m often reminded of a song I learned as a child, “He’s still working on me.” That’s the absolute truth, and I pray daily that I always allow him to work on me.
Food, well I love to cook and eat!! Don’t we all?! I love natural ingredients, and low carb recipes, but sometimes I may have an awful for you, but so good to eat recipe to share! Moderation is the key!
So junk could be just whatever other topics I decide to throw in here, but for the most part I mean literal junk! I’m a junker! Yard sales, thrift stores, auctions, and yes actual junk yards, that’s my thing! My happy places! I love to find old, forgotten, beat up pieces and bring them back to life. Either by refinishing, or by giving a fresh coat of paint, or maybe completely repurposing a piece for a different use. The possibilities are endless! My home is furnished with pieces I have done, I love them! They are unique, not something you can go buy, and each I feel is a reflection of me.
I love looking around my home and seeing the pieces I have put myself into. Knowing what a transformation our farmhouse table has been through, and how that one spot took so much time to sand smooth, remembering the feeling I had when I spotted that perfect piece of walnut at a yard sale that now sits atop an antique singer sewing machine base. The result of which is a beautiful table that showcases pictures of my family. I love that I know these pieces, that each has a story.
So Faith, food and junk…. that’s me in a nutshell and what you can expect if you decide to follow along. I have for years kept a portfolio of before and after pictures of my projects, and recipes I have created with the intention of writing a blog. So after years of saying I was going to, I decided to actually do it. I hope you find something here that inspires you!
